Bio

ScenaMadre is a professional theatre company.

  •  A people-based theatre company: we like to tiptoe into their world and capturing their thoughts, fears and poetry.
  • A culturally inclusive theatre company in terms of age, education and social background. We create theatre performances that tells a story and leaves something behind for everyone, despite differences in age or culture.

We take our theatre plays, performances and artistic project wandering around on tour in Italy and abroad.

In our town – Chiavari in Italy, by the sea and with the mountains just behind – we run our theatre workshops for children, teenagers and adults.

ScenaMadre is Marta Abate e Michelangelo Frola. We are the two people in the photo, because they say you have to put at least one photo in your bio. But we always prefer to write or be behind the scenes, not on stage.

And hope that our work speaks for us.

Theatre plays

In 2014 we won Scenario Infanzia Award with our play  La stanza dei giochi. It was on tour in Italy and Switzerland until 2020.

Theatre workshops

We run theatre workshops for children, teenagers, adults.

    • 6 – 11 years old, primary school
    • 12 – 14 anni, middle school
    • 14 – 19 anni, high school
    • 20 – 99 anni, adults

Our students have performed in many different places and contexts. For example:

A theatre workshop is often the first step on a journey: some students started at the age of 6 and are still here now that they are 18 ♥
